The company traces its origins back to 1968, when a group of Bermudian automotive professionals formed a cooperative savings group to purchase tools and supplies that were otherwise difficult and expensive to source individually on the island.

This grassroots initiative evolved into a formal business in 1971, opening its first retail location on North Street in Hamilton. The business later expanded its product range beyond automotive tools to include equipment for construction, welding, and other industrial trades. Over time, it became a trusted one-stop shop for Bermuda’s professional tradespeople.

In response to the island’s growing demand for industrial and medical gases, the company’s founders launched Bermuda Bulk Gases Ltd. Leveraging decades of industry experience and customer trust, BBG quickly became Bermuda’s leading provider of oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, helium, and other specialty gases, establishing itself as a vital part of the island’s industrial infrastructure.
